The NanoChromes and NanoTandem are fluorescent probes for diagnostic and clinical applications: various types of fluorochromes are included into the core, while the shell is functionalized with specific reactive groups for bioconjugation with antibodies or other biomolecules.

Main characteristics
The photo-physical properties of NanoChromes and NanoTandem can be adjusted according to the type of fluorophore incorporated covalently in the core. Furthermore, the NanoTandem™ exploit energy processes such as FRET, by bonding various fluorescent dyes within the same particle and thus guaranteeing highly efficient energy transfer.

The composing material of the particles, namely silica, confers biocompatibility and atoxicity. In addition the PEG coverage, makes them water soluble nanoparticles, stable in the most commonly used aqueous buffers.

Fundamental advantages

By trapping the fluorescent dyes within the hydrophobic core, thus avoiding their exposure to the aqueous solution, NanoChromes™ and NanoTandem™ guarantee greater signal stability, thereby increasing the emission efficiency and consequently the signal/background noise ratio.

In particular, when particles are conjugated with antibodies the avidity of the antibody is enhanced and there are less non-specific interactions, thanks to Silica Nanoparticles compactness as opposed to conventional products currently available on the marketplace (i.e. nanocrystals).

NanoChromes™ and NanoTandem™ are excellent reagents for fluorescent immunoassays, especially for the detection in flow cytometry, deep array, adhesion immunofluorescence, ELISA and Western blotting (detected in fluorescence), by coupling NanoParticles advantageous characteristics with antibodies natural features.
